About the programme
WordLab a comprehensive spelling programme to assist teachers of all levels (Years 1-8) in the implementation of New Zealand’s literacy requirements.
The programme provides an overview of the full breadth of spelling skills and knowledge, as well as detailed information for teachers on what should be taught and when.
WordLab includes simple, easily implemented weekly and daily plans along with over 900 charts for teachers to use with their classes. These explore vocabulary, spelling patterns, word meanings and derivations. It also offers a systematic and easily delivered programme for each level of the school, beginning at a new entrant’s first day and continuing through to the end of Year 8.
WordLab is provided solely in a fully electronic format to schools and is intended to be made available on the school’s server for quick and convenient access by teachers. WordLab is delivered with a permanent site license.
“Of all the areas in the school curriculum there appears to be a lot of confusion about spelling: what needs to be taught, when to teach it and how to teach it to ensure that students’ improved spelling is reflected in the quality of their writing. WordLab is a complete solution to these issues.”Chuck Marriott, co-author
