Description

There is more emphasis on understanding about how words are constructed and the new activites that reflect this are: Match the Meaning, Synonym Search, What’s The Word? and Read-It Fix-It.

AVAILLL is a daily programme that replaces the normal instructional reading programme for a class and teachers might find that they wish to use it for a shorter time i.e. 20 lessons rather than 40, with this age group.

The manual has been written so that lessons 19 and 20 as well as 39 and 40 contain concluding activities so it lends itself to being used in this way.

This is an exciting and unique approach to teaching literacy skills. Students watch engaging films with the subtitle feature turned on. While they Read/Watch the films they engage in activities to develop vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and spelling.

AVAILLL has been continuously researched for six years by an independent body of researchers at the University of Canterbury with excellent results.
